Detox programme

The term “detoxification” is very common nowadays, generally referring to weight loss, addiction recovery, or a panacea for numerous nonspecific health conditions. Approaches to detoxification are highly variable, non-standardized, and very often controversial.

Approach to a detox programme

First of all, it is necessary to detect the toxins in a person’s body to have a clear idea about what actions should be taken to eliminate targeted toxins. Second, the human body has its own detox system, which works in 2 phases through different organs and systems: the skin, lungs, intestines, liver, kidneys and immune system. And the assessment of a person’s individual capacity, programmed in the genes, provides a clear path toward the best way to help the body get rid of the destructive consequences of accumulated external and internal toxins. A special type of analysis and evaluation of a person’s own detoxification system enables the proper planning of a detoxification programme, avoiding the negative consequences of various kinds of detox remedies and detox spa procedures.

Background information

Harvard Medical School asks in one of its publications: “Internal cleansing may empty your wallet, but is it good for your health?” The methods that people mistakenly consider detox programmes include diets, colon irrigation, detoxification with herbal remedies such as spirulina or chlorella, oxygen therapy, sweating therapy and many others. Even though these methods may to some extent contribute to the elimination of some toxins, they can have undesirable, unhealthy side effects and trigger other health-related problems. For example, colon cleansing may have such severe side effects as dysbiosis, electrolyte imbalance, and dehydration, while sweating helps you lose water instead of toxins, because toxins are fat soluble, not water soluble. Furthermore, such methods as foot cleansing are absolutely useless procedures, though luckily, they have no side effects. In addition, beyond the issue of environmental toxins (heavy metals, pesticides, bisphenols, etc.), the human body produces a lot of internal toxins through digestion of food, metabolites of hormones, sugars, fatty acids, the accumulation of dead cells, etc. In the long term, internal toxins are very harmful; they can contribute and be linked to the development of many severe diseases: dermatitis, hair loss, digestive problems, atherosclerosis, gout, dementia, hypertension, cancer, etc.

“Detox is very beneficial to the human body. The main goal of detox is to eliminate what is excessive rather than dehydrate your body or take useless supplements that are sometimes toxic themselves in the hope that they will miraculously eliminate toxins.”
